Fairfax Media’s weather information service Weatherzone has expanded into South Africa with an investment into commercial weather services provider AfricaWeather.
AfricaWeather serves 17 of the top 40 companies on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, including almost all South African insurance companies.
“This investment expands … provides us access to AfricaWeather’s established information technology and weather information delivery infrastructure,” Weatherzone managing director Charles Solomon said in a statement.
“[It] provides significant scale and technology synergies for both companies,” he said.
