The Australian awarded sales team of the yearThis year’s ceremony attracted a record 450 entries, with 41 awards presented across different categories

The Australian has won Sales Team of the Year and Fairfax Media’s Lauren Butler has won Sales Person of the year at the 2015 PANPA Advertising & Marketing Awards.

Presented by The Newspaper Works on Thursday night in conjunction with the Future Forum, the annual awards ceremony recognises excellence in newspaper media’s creative, sales and marketing teams from across Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and South-East Asia.

News Corp’s national retail marketing team took out Marketing Team of the Year and Nancy Veart from APN’s Australian Regional Media took out Sales Manager of the Year.

This year’s ceremony attracted a record 450 entries, with 41 awards presented across categories including Best Digital Idea or Innovation, Best Microsite / Native Advertising and Best Cause-Related or Community Service Campaign.

“The calibre of submissions was particularly high this year,” said The Newspaper Works chief executive Mark Hollands. “The finalists and winners showcase the creative, compelling and effective ways in which newspaper media promote their essential contribution to readers’ lives, and to advertiser and media agency strategies.”

The advertising categories are focused on celebrating in-house work, while marketing categories are open to both agency and in-house entrants.

A mix of panels and independent judges oversaw this year’s awards. No category had fewer than three judges and overall almost 90 judges volunteered their time.

The 2015 PANPA Advertising & Marketing Awards were sponsored by Oceanic Paper and were held at the Zeta Bar at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel.
