Julian Tan, the chief executive of Asian online classified company 701Search, has taken up a new role with one of its shareholders, as head of digital media at Singapore Press Holdings (SPH).
The search for his replacement is underway as SPH prepares to welcome back Mr Tan, who worked at SPH for eight years before joining 701Search in 2008.
Mr Tans says it will be “exciting and challenging” to lead in the transformation of SPH from a traditional to a multi-media company.
At 701Search, Mr Tan was described as the “driving force” behind the growth of the company.
The company began in Singapore* and now operates leading and fast-growing online classifieds sites in Malaysia (Mudah.my), Vietnam (ChoTot.vn), Indonesia (Berniaga.com) and the Philippines (AyosDito.ph).
Mr Tan previously joined SPH in 2000, becoming chief operating officer of SPH Search in 2007 before his move to 701Search.
“I look forward to SPH becoming a formidable force in new media,” Mr Tan said.
He will commence his new role at SPH “as soon as the new CEO of 701Search has been found and a suitable transition period has passed.”
