Figures show newspapers continue to contribute the largest segment of the industry’s audience, delivering news, information and entertainment to 79 percent of the population, or 14.1 million readers.

Of these, 12.4 million read a national or metro newspaper, staying in touch with the big stories of the day.

Regional and community newspapers remain an ever popular source of local news with monthly readerships of 2.5 million and 5.2 million respectively.
