Pop goes a Perth paper

A 40-page, midweek newspaper was published this week by news site PerthNow to capitalise on the coming holiday long weekend in Western Australia.PerthNow-pop-up-paper-full

Some 50,000 copies of the pop-up paper were distributed to commuters, businesses and residents across Perth’s CBD on Wednesday.

It will be filled with news, opinion, travel ideas, seasonal recipes, health content, an events guide and a ‘Where to Go’ guide of activities for the school holidays and the public holiday weekend.

The special edition is the fifth midweek paper to be published this year by PerthNow, the digital companion to News Corp Australia’s The Sunday Times.

Rod Savage, editor of The Sunday Times, said he wanted to “tap into the midweek mindset of the Perth”.

“It’s great to see Perth’s leading digital news provider extending its reach into a more traditional format midweek,” he said.

A sixth midweek paper is planned for Christmas, however whether that goes ahead will depend on Seven West Media, which just secured regulatory approval to buy PerthNow and The Sunday Times from News Corp.
