NZME is now a media content provider for a collective of eight national sporting organisations following the signing of an agreement that will see the company collaborate with the sporting bodies to develop content across events, athletes and special initiatives.
The agreement will see the APN News & Media-owned publisher deliver rich and engaging sports content for the collective of New Zealand sport organisations which include Athletics New Zealand, Basketball New Zealand, Golf NZ and New Zealand Tennis.
Other organisations in the collective are Bowls New Zealand, Golf NZ, Hockey NZ, New Zealand Tennis, Triathlon New Zealand and Yachting New Zealand.
NZME will continue to provide cross-platform news coverage for all key sports, teams and athletes in New Zealand, however the publisher will have a team dedicated to the new partnerships.
NZME’s group revenue director Laura Maxwell said that team would be charged with bringing more sport content to New Zealanders, particularly through NZME’s digital platforms.
“NZME is committed to sport in New Zealand and to providing greater exposure for the organisations in the partnership. This exciting collaboration will deliver quality content when, where and how Kiwis wish to consume it in order to inspire engagement and participation in sport,” she said.
“NZME already delivers one of New Zealand’s largest unduplicated sport platforms, including on nzherald.co.nz and radiosport.co.nz, and this partnership is set to strengthen our content offering while also exposing unique stories via our non-sport channels.”
