News launches regional subscription packages

News Corp Australia launched bundled digital subscription packages this week for two of its regional papers, the Townsville Bulletin and Cairns Post.

The release of the packages follows the launch of new digital replica editions of the paper which are designed to provide a more seamless user experience.

Some of the subscription packages offered bundle the Townsville Bulletin and Cairns Post with digital access to The Courier-Mail, a digital subscription to, full access to fantasy sports league SuperCoach Gold and access to The Courier-Mail +Rewards scheme.

The offer is half-price for the first 12 weeks. Packages range from $2 to $5.50 per week, doubling after the introductory period.

All provide access to the daily digital edition of the regional product, while access to the mastheads’ websites remains free.

The bundling is similar to the approach taken by APN News & Media, which also offers online access to The Courier-Mail as part of a subscription to a regional paper.

Townsville Bulletin editor Ben English said it was an exciting step to give the readers another avenue to access content.

“I know for instance, there are a lot of people that travel to and from Townsville, particularly in the business community, that will greatly appreciate the ability to download the print edition on their device,” he said.
