News Corp Australia will consolidate its Sydney and Melbourne contact centres into one centralised group, relocating to Adelaide, starting from the 31st July 2017.
The company says the reasoning behind the decision is to consolidate its Direct Sales teams into one “Centre of Excellence”. News has committed to similar changes to its teams in Queensland, bringing them into one central location within the state.
News Corp Australia’s chief operating officer of publishing Damien Eales said: “We are making these changes to serve our customers better. The needs of our customers have changed and we must too. Through consolidating teams we can build scale and expertise.
“We are focused on making News Corp easier to do business with, including providing simplified products and services and enabling customers to do business with us when and how they choose to,” Mr Eales said.
Some of the affected staff will be redeployed to other roles within the company, but up to 120 jobs may be lost.
Staff were notified of the changes last week.
