mX has a new publisher, with Tamara Oppen taking up the position after playing a key part in the roll-out of the News Corp Australia commuter daily in two capital cities.
Ms Oppen, who was part of the original management team that launched mX in Sydney and Brisbane, replaces Fiona Mellor, who was appointed general manager of Leader community newspaper group last month.
Describing mX as “a unique publication”, Ms Oppen said she was delighted to be returning.
“The paper is still at the forefront of creativity, and is willing to push the envelope with all kinds of innovative products, including mega wraps, brown paper wraps and fragrant ads,” she said.
“This willingness to deliver arresting executions, combined with its young, vibrant audience, makes mX a hugely valuable commercial solution for brands.”
News executive group director – commercial and operations Jerry Harris praised Ms Oppen for her understanding of the paper and its readers.
Ms Oppen has been with News Corp since 2003, holding senior ad roles including mX’s national advertising director and strategy director for The Daily and Sunday Telegraph. She previously held commercial roles at Clemenger BBDO, ninemsn and Pacific Publications.
