Fairfax Media New Zealand will create a working environment more suited to the company’s digital-first strategy in a new $7 million building in Auckland to be completed by June next year.
The new building in at Williamson Ave, Ponsonby, will house 500 staff from two nearby Fairfax offices.
As a result of the project, editorial teams will now be structured around the audience, rather than by product or masthead and digital-centric newsrooms.
The stuff.co.nz platform will become the core of the business.
Fairfax will share the new building with other commercial and retail businesses, including a Countdown supermarket.
Fairfax opened new offices in Wellington and Hamilton last month, with staff in Albany, Rangiora, Blenheim, Invercargill and New Plymouth either about to relocate or already have done so.
