Fairfax Media’s Chullora print centre is likely to be redeveloped following a $45 million deal with property group Charter Hall Group.
The sale of the 10.3 hectare property follows the $16 million sale of Fairfax’s Tullamarine print centre in Victoria to luxury car dealership, Zagame Automotive.
The transaction is expected to be completed in November 2 with Charter Hall saying the purchase is consistent with its strategy of acquiring properties in land constrained areas.
The Chullora facility was originally built as part of a plan to centralise Fairfax’s printing operations following the closure of their Condell Park and Broadway sites.
Completed in 1995 at a cost of $340 million, the Chullora printing centre once housed 200 employees and at its peak, published 92 separate production runs a week.
The print centre is located within an industrial precinct and has extensive street frontage onto the Hume Highway.
The printing of most of Fairfax’s NSW titles was moved to the company’s North Richmond facility in June last year.
