Two senior sales executives have resigned from Fairfax Media to take up leading management positions with Yahoo!7
Fairfax group sales director Ed Harrison has been appointed Yahoo!7 CEO, and Paul Sigaloff resigned as Fairfax’s general manager digital and national sales to join Mr Harrison as commercial director at the digital group.
Mr Harrison replaces Stuart Sayers, who will be departing for online retailer Amazon.
Seven West Media Group chief revenue officer Kurt Burnette said the appointments were key to the company’s digital development.
“Yahoo!7 is a key part of our digital future and therefore it’s critical to have the right person leading the business,” he said.
“We had many discussions with a number of candidates locally and internationally and Ed Harrison met all of the key criteria, having a fantastic track record on all fronts.”
Similarly, Mr Burnette said Mr Sigaloff’s appointment stemmed from his 16 years’ experience across a range of media in Australia.
“Paul was a clear choice for the commercial director role given his strong reputation and deep relationships in the Australian media industry,” he said.
“Paul’s experience managing large national sales teams within complex sales environments will be an asset to the Yahoo!7 business and more broadly the Seven West Media Group.”
Mr Harrison will begin his role in mid-2014, while Mr Sigaloff begins in the second quarter of 2014.
