Fairfax Media has appointed journalist Michael Bailey as the editor of its online business publication, BRW.
Formerly deputy editor, Mr Bailey has more than 15 years’ experience as a business journalist.
Social media editor Caitlin Fitzsimmons has been promoted to the role of deputy editor.
Fairfax Business Media Director Sean Aylmer said both Michael and Caitlin are well-respected business journalists and understand the objectives the company has for the masthead.
Mr Bailey said he was excited to be at the helm of the new BRW. “I look forward to transitioning this flagship brand into a strong online, print and events offering,” he said.
BRW closed its print edition late last year. It is planned to expand the title’s audience across The Australian Financial Review and Fairfax Media’s broader business media portfolio in print, online and video.
BRW’s lists and events, including Young Rich, Best Places to Work, Rich 200 and Fast 100, will be expanded across Fairfax’s business mastheads.
