He has over 15 years of experience working in senior executive roles in the media industry.
Mr Miller was previously the regional director for News Limited in New South Wales, managing director of Nationwide News from 2011-2012, the managing director of Advertiser News Media from 2004-2010, and News Limited’s group marketing director from 1997 – 2004, involved in all aspects of marketing across News Corp’s 11 divisions in the region .
Mr Miller was a director of News Limited from 2004-2013 and a previous director of Fox Sports Australia, carsguide.com.au, the Audit Bureau of Circulations and a director of Sky Network Television Limited from 2003 – 2013 as it grew to become a top 10 New Zealand listed company.
He was appointed chief executive officer of APN News & Media in June 2013 before returning to News Corp in November 2015.
He is a director of the Committee for Sydney and Waratahs Rugby.
Mr Miller has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Communications) Degree from the University of Technology Sydney.

He began his career as a cadet with The Australian Financial Review, eventually winning a Walkley Award for an investigation on General Motors.
He moved on to hold a number of senior management positions at Fairfax including publisher and editor-in-chief of The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, Sun Herald and The Age. He has also been group publisher of Fairfax magazines.
Mr Hywood has enjoyed a career outside of the media, working as an executive director policy and cabinet in the Victorian Premier’s Department between 2004 and 2006, and from 2006 to 2010 was the chief executive of Tourism Victoria.
He is also a director of The Victorian Major Events Company.

As CEO of SWMWA John is tasked with building and leveraging the combined media assets of the group in WA to deliver audience growth across all media platforms and providing opportunities for advertisers through a customer focused service model.
He commenced with Marketforce as Group Media Director in 1989, and became Managing Director in 2000 and finally Chairman and CEO in 2003.
Working in an industry that underwent unprecedented change, John’s vision and guidance saw Marketforce keep abreast of the information revolution, retaining its position as Western Australia’s foremost marketing communications agency.
As well as leading Marketforce, John has built a successful career forged on strong client relationships, providing strategic advice to clients such as The Office of Road Safety, Lotterywest, HBF, Curtin University and The West Australian to name a few.
John’s respect as one of the State’s prominent marketers is reflected in his commitment to support organisations dedicated to improving professionalism in this industry.
John is a director of NewsMediaWorks and The Readership Works, a member of the WA Olympic and Commonwealth Games Team Appeal Committee and a board member of Rebound (WA).
Previously, John chaired the Senior Advisory Panel of the School of Marketing for Curtin University, and was past Chairman of the Communications Council of WA, Rottnest Island Authority, Trinity College and is a past Patron to the Perth Advertising and Design Club.
