Australian Community Media director John Angilley will leave Fairfax Media after a decade with the company.
The news of Mr Angilley’s departure comes days after an announced restructure of the group’s north-west Sydney community titles, which included the launch of a new magazine and a reduction in the number of print mastheads by six.
Mr Angilley joined Fairfax in 2007 as business and finance manager for NSW Communities, Newcastle and Illawarra, later taking up the position of finance director of the Financial Review Group in 2009. In 2011, Mr Angilley was promoted to chief operating officer of publishing and general manager for the Sydney region of Fairfax’s NSW Communities division.
For the past three years, Mr Angilley has driven change throughout the regional titles as director of Australian Community Media.
Key regions of change include The Hunter, Illawarra and South Coast, Victoria and Canberra, where he led the downsizing of The Canberra Times from a broadsheet to a tabloid format, as well as reducing full time roles across each of the regions.
His departure follows that of Fairfax editorial director Sean Aylmer last month.
ACM staff will report to Allen Williams, managing director of publishing transition, after Mr Angilley finishes on Friday.
